Transforming Traditional Operations Through Smart Technology
Objective
The Green Group, Scotland’s largest independent laundry operator, has served hundreds of hotels across Glasgow and Edinburgh for over 20 years. As the business continued to grow, its existing systems, built around spreadsheets and manual workflows, could no longer keep pace with the scale and complexity of operations. To support future expansion, the company sought to modernise its internal processes, improve visibility, and introduce more efficient, cloud-based infrastructure.
With a clear vision for growth, CEO Naveed Raja partnered with LOOPSIO to modernise the company’s technology landscape. The goal was to move from a reactive IT setup to an agile, data-driven, and cloud-based operation that could support long-term expansion and innovation.
What we delivered
- Designed and implemented a cloud-based platform, The Green Group Hub, to centralise operations and enable automation across departments.
- Built RFID tooling to track every item, from chipping and encoding to lossage reporting, improving inventory control and reducing financial loss.
- Created automated office tools for tasks such as BDO processing, invoicing, and supplier management, significantly reducing administrative workload.
- Developed digital logistics systems, including route optimisation and driver tools for real-time delivery management.
- Introduced management dashboards to visualise operational KPIs and support faster, data-led decisions.
Our Approach
LOOPSIO worked as an embedded technology partner, combining strategic consultancy with hands-on execution. A part-time CTO role provided ongoing leadership, aligning the technology roadmap with business priorities, while a small development team delivered results in focused 12-week sprints.
The transformation was approached incrementally, beginning with a cloud sandbox environment that allowed safe and rapid experimentation. This framework encouraged innovation and reduced deployment risk. Regular feedback sessions with staff, from the office team to operations managers, ensured that every new tool fit seamlessly into existing workflows.
By working directly with the company’s leadership team, LOOPSIO was able to digitise manual processes, automate routine tasks, and establish a scalable foundation for future expansion.
Challenges We Overcame
- Cultural Shift: Transitioning an established company from manual to digital processes required patience, training, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Complex Workflows: Many operational procedures existed only in people’s heads, requiring deep observation and iteration to translate into functional software.
- Technical Modernisation: Introducing cloud-based systems to a company previously reliant on on-premise servers demanded careful integration and data migration.
- Dynamic Requirements: Continuous input from management and staff required agile prioritisation to balance long-term goals with immediate value.
Results
- Operational Efficiency: Automated tools reduced repetitive administrative work and improved data accuracy across the business.
- Inventory Visibility: Full RFID tracking eliminated blind spots in stock management, addressing what was once called a “million-pound black hole.”
- Faster Decision-Making: Management dashboards enabled real-time visibility of performance and operational KPIs.
- Scalable Infrastructure: The cloud-based foundation supports future multi-plant expansion and additional customer-facing applications.
- Ongoing Partnership: LOOPSIO continues to collaborate with The Green Group through additional development phases, shaping the company’s technology evolution.
Conclusion
For LOOPSIO, The Green Group represents a landmark partnership that blends strategic leadership with practical innovation. Through close collaboration, an agile approach, and a focus on cultural as well as technical transformation, the team helped one of Scotland’s most established companies embrace the future of digital operations.
The project continues to grow, proving that with the right technology and vision, even traditional industries can achieve agility, scalability, and long-term impact.
